Advertising PowerPoint for Year 7's to give them an insight into some of the techniques used within advertising. The lesson includes going trough the basics such as terminology and also embedded YouTube clips embedded showing certain TV advertisements which can be used for Q&A sessions. You can choose your own logo's for the final pair exercise depending on your class.

This lesson focuses on Steinbeck’s use of language to create atmosphere at the start of the novel. Students start ‘Do Now’ in relation to connotations, followed by a think-pair-share to talk about other connotations. Students then read the start of the novel and answer questions before completing a main task. There is also a hinge question and plenary to check understanding. A summary of Roald Dahls short story ‘First Day’. This have been used with a mixed ability Year 7 group after we worked on an a piece of writing about their first day in seconday school.

This PowerPoint shows students the juxtapositioning of both King Duncan and Lady Macbeth in comparison to how a king and a woman should be viewed in society. Through a series of tasks that get students thinking of each character, only to find Shakespeare portrays them in a different way. This allows students to understand why both Macbeth and Lady Macbeth deceived King Duncan.

This lesson analyses the poetic techniques used withing Singh Song. The lesson focuses on word play, tone and the context of the poet amongst others. It also asks students to take ownership and analyse the poem and asks students several questions throughout.

This lesson was an observation lesson for performance management to a group of Year 7 students who are studying Gothic Literature. This lesson can also be used within a creative writing unit. The lesson is structured in a way where students are given awareness of the impact of short and long sentences. This is a detailed lesson plan for a KS3 class. This particular class is primarily focusing on AFOREST and how it can be used within a Room 101 presentation. This particular lesson plan was used for an interview lesson. The plan has a ‘Do Now’. guidelines on teacher input, assessment, individual practice and also a plenary with notes to the side. This lesson plan is just a guide, it does not include resources (PowerPoint, exercises) and it is a ‘Read Only’ document.

This lesson is perfect for an English class on their first day back at school for KS3. The studied poem is ‘Summer Goes’ by Russell Hoban. The lesson primarily focuses on how the students in your class can relate to the speaker in the poem after summer ends. The resource has a PowerPoint and a copy of the poem included.

In this PowerPoint students start by giving their opinion of Fagin from what they have read in the text before reading the ending of the novel. The extracts focus on Oliver and Fagin’s conversation while Fagin is in prison. The students work in pairs with differentiated sheets and answer questions on the extract. These are also included. The end of this PowerPoint then asks the students if their opinion of Fagin has changed after close analysis of the extract. The main aim of this class is for students to build a sense of empathy for Fagin and come to the realisation that Bill Sykes is the real villain in this story.

Before studying Benjamin Zephaniah’s poem ‘Good Hope’, it is important to get a sense of what the students believe in. In the poem, Zephaniah repeats the phrase ‘I believe’ and this lesson is an opportunity for students to think about what they strongly believe in. This can be part of a wider writing project or as a way of getting students prepared for some of the topics in Zephaniah’s poem. The PowerPoint asks students questions to give them more ideas before they write on a planning sheet for what they believe in entitled ‘I Believe’.
